  • Closing times! Incompetent and unhelpful.

I applied for a new smart card ID on the 17th of April at the Vereeniging Home Affairs. Today I received an sms and email saying that my ID is ready for collection. I left my home at approximately 15:00 and arrived at the home affairs at 15:30. I checked up online that they close at 16:00 so i knew i still had time! Upon arrival the gates were shut. A man working for the home affairs sitting outside says they are closed and theres no way i can collect i should return on monday. He was very abrupt and rude. He opened the gate and door and slammed closed after entering! Another lady working... More...

  • A Waste of Time

Isn't it absolutely pathetic that SARS can get it right to drain every cent of money out of us, and yet Home Affairs (financed by taxes) cannot provide a proper service. My daughter and I went to Home Affairs more than once to apply for an ID... Then they are off line, then they won't serve us because we arrived at 14h00 and should have arrived earlier!! Today we fethced her ID. We were there before 7h00 at Durban City Centre branch and were only let in around 12h00. In the meantime all applicants and ID collectors had to stand on the sidewalk the whole day (as is the case every... More...

  • Embassy inefficiency

Mexican Embassy received my application for a new passport on 8 April 2017. After 3 weeks I asked for a progress report and was told the application would only be sent at the end of the month in a diplomatic pouch. Following up with 12 emails to the Embassy, and copying in Home Affairs, Mr E Mokoena replied promptly that no application has been received. I sent this reply to the Mexican Embassy %u2013 and today 16 Aug received an email that the passport application will only be sent to SA today 16 August. Is that not dereliction of duties that emails were not answered and passport... More...

  • Bad Service

I applied for a smartcard id on the 18/05/2017 at the East London Home Affairs, up until today still waiting fir my ID. I went to their offices in June and was told my application is on some manual finger print stage and was sent back home. On the 18th of July i went back and was told the very same story and i asked for a Supervisor to clarify this for me, I was referred to Mrs Sondaba who promised to follow it up and tell me the outcome, Its been 4 working days waiting for her call. I am disgusted by the kind of service am getting from a place that is supposed to help us, I cnt even go... More...

  • Duplicate ID

I discovered two weeks ago that I was a victim of identity theft when I went to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) in Somerset West to apply for a new ID and passport to prepare for trip to Norway for work in September 2017. When they scanned my ID at Home Affairs two ID numbers reflected and I was told that there was an ID issued under my name in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth in 2014, and that it hadn't been claimed as the person who was meant to collect the ID had been requested to produce proof that the ID belonged to her. I had never been to the Home Affairs department in... More...

  • disgusting service

Arrived at New Hanover Home Affairs at 12-00, sat down just to be told that i must go outside the building and wait in a que. Plenty of seating space inside but we had to wait outside in the wind and cold with no seating. At 3:30pm went and inquired just to be told that they were closing. not once while waiting outside was anyone called in to be helped. No communication what so ever. Phoned your office manager, Hllengiwe Nkonyani who was of no help at all except for excuses, and telling us that there was only one person on duty and that she has no airtime left . Incompetent service and... More...

  • Divorce not registered, 6 yrs now - Pathetic

I got Divorced in the UK and submitted my papers in South Africa to have my Divorce registered here. I re married and found out 3 yrs later that I am still married to another woman. I have submitted our papers 7 times already with no luck. I am currently waiting for this to be done online and still no help. The government officials we pay with our tax money are more concerned about being rude than actually doing their jobs. What has this country become. Licking your fingers after a KFC lunch is more important than helping a person that would like to have his life in order. We are planning... More...

  • Closing times

I arrived at the dept of home affairs randburg at 15:20 after carefully checking the closing hours which were 16:00, only to have the security gate jammed in my face and denied access. Not only were the security very rude and arrogant but there were a handful of people who also wanted to get in and were denied. A group of people also exited saying the staff were refusing to deal with people who had not put in their forms at the desk before 15:00. What kind of nonsense is this of public servants, these are the people and services I pay for with my taxes and they should not be able to... More...

  • Unabridged Birth Certificate

I applied for an Unabridged Birth Certificate for 2 of my daughters at the Wynberg Branch in Cape Town in January 2016. Not long after, only the one was ready for collection. Month after month for whole year of 2016 I called in to enquire about when the other certificate would be ready for my 2nd daughter. Only to be told that it's npt ready and that there is a backlog. Although this didn't make sense to me, I was patient and time passed. In January 2017 I received and SMS asking me to come in to complete some forms with regards to my daughter's outstanding unabridged Birth... More...

  • Poor Service

Centurion Home Affairs Offices how we stood in line from 10am to 6pm just to apply for an ID card, only to be met by a rude lady by the name of Cathy Moleko. Who set there chatting away on her cellphone whiles ignoring people that have been standing in line for hours. When confronted, Cathy had the nerve to tell us all "Why did you come to the Department of Home Affairs, Centurion if you are not willing to stand and wait" as she continued on her phone. Whiles a hundred plus people waited in line. We asked to see her supervisor and we were shown to a man by the name of... More...

  • GREAT SPELL CASTER THAT HELP ME GET MY LOVER BACK

My husband proposed to me again in November 2016, and by Christmas 2016 he was asking for a divorce. He had fallen in love with a gal at work. I struggled to save my marriage, I changed everything. He struggled with who he wanted to be with. The new gal, who has no history and family with him or me, his wife of 24 years. He struggles with depression, refuses to take his medication and drinks. We are officially divorced now, I’m devastated. He is dating the gal from work, living the free life. I’m trying to pick up the pieces and finish raising our boys. I love him more than... More...

  • HOME AFFAIRS INCOMPETENCY

I got divorced in 2014 and to date my divorce was never registered. I have been to the boksburg branch and submitted the required documents, but had to find out after so long that the status was still not changed. This is a life changing issue, because I got married in the meantime and because of the delay/incompetency of the officials my marriage now can not be registered. I took it upon myself to drive to Pretoria and re-submitted my documents once again, and a very friendly lady, Agnes, who is a supervisor opted to email my documents to someone at the head-office to speed up the... • Waiting for ID since 11/11/2014

Assistance needed. On the 11th of November 2014 I visited the Home Affairs office in Krugerdorp to apply for a new passport. I was informed by the officials that my ID number has been blocked. On further request I was informed that my ID number duplicated. Home Affairs Office in Sasolburg had switched my finger prints with my sisters. She is 15 months older than me. She married and when she applied for a surname change Home Affairs then picked up that the finger prints on her ID was wrong. Home Affairs then proceeded in blocking my ID number. I reapplied for an ID on the 11th of... More...

  • SMART ID APPLICATION

So frustrating...did the online booking and payment, went to The Grove FNB for biometrics. Receive a printout saying all done. Two weeks later I go online as I have heard nothing, just to see that apparently I never pitched for my appointment at the The Grove. Contact DHA and they have nothing saying I did in fact pitch for my appointment and I will have to go back to The Grove. So the person assisting me, once again, did not do their job, and probably pressed the wrong button...nicely done... More...

  • Two year wait!!

I went to Home Affairs in Paarl on 19 Feb 2015, and have had nothing but drama trying to get the vault copy of my son's birth certificate. I have had to re-fill birth certificate forms, as they tell me they have no record of himand have phoned the Home Affairs hot line basically every two weeks, but am having no joy. I am furious at having to wait so long for something that should not take this amount of time. I have even sent an e-mail with all the relevant information, and received no reply to that either. Exceptionally bad service. I am used to dealing with long lines and am a reasonably patient person. I have used the new Wynberg branch a few times and have never had a complaint. Today however the service received by the manager Mr J Conradie was of poor standard. I arrive timeously to be told I cannot process my renewal of passport,as they cannot accommodate me,I then advise that this should be mentioned on the website in which he replies that the website is a challenge at the moment. I also advise that I have tried with no success to contact the home affairs offices. He then directs me... More...

On the 24 Jan 2017 I was harassed by a lady at MTN taxi rank in JHB. The lady grabbed my hand and started demanding to see my ID or passport. I asked to see her name tag as she didn%u2019t have one and worst of all she was wearing a Gauteng bib and frankly she looked like a car washer. I asked for her name and she refused to give it. I would like to understand how home affairs puts people on the streets without formal training and proper identifiable uniform. I would also like to know why I am being discriminated against because of the tone of my skin and texture of my hair. These people... More...

  • LACK OF SERVICE

I have applied for passports for my 2 children on 29/11/16 online. I have also paid online and was requested to have photos taken at Home Affairs Office. I have since been to Home Affairs in Umgeni Road Durban on 3 different occasions & spent more than 15 hours queuing with my baby only to be told, that they are unable to assist me. What is the point of applying online when you still have to follow this queue and still not be helped. The passport and ID applications are dealt with the same urgency. Clearly people apply for a passport for travel reasons and this is urgent. The conditions... More...
