Exceptionally bad service. I am used to dealing with long lines and am a reasonably patient person. I have used the new Wynberg branch a few times and have never had a complaint. Today however the service received by the manager Mr J Conradie was of poor standard. I arrive timeously to be told I cannot process my renewal of passport,as they cannot accommodate me,I then advise that this should be mentioned on the website in which he replies that the website is a challenge at the moment. I also advise that I have tried with no success to contact the home affairs offices. He then directs me... More...

On the 24 Jan 2017 I was harassed by a lady at MTN taxi rank in JHB. The lady grabbed my hand and started demanding to see my ID or passport. I asked to see her name tag as she didn%u2019t have one and worst of all she was wearing a Gauteng bib and frankly she looked like a car washer. I asked for her name and she refused to give it. I would like to understand how home affairs puts people on the streets without formal training and proper identifiable uniform. I would also like to know why I am being discriminated against because of the tone of my skin and texture of my hair. These people... More...

  • LACK OF SERVICE

I have applied for passports for my 2 children on 29/11/16 online. I have also paid online and was requested to have photos taken at Home Affairs Office. I have since been to Home Affairs in Umgeni Road Durban on 3 different occasions & spent more than 15 hours queuing with my baby only to be told, that they are unable to assist me. What is the point of applying online when you still have to follow this queue and still not be helped. The passport and ID applications are dealt with the same urgency. Clearly people apply for a passport for travel reasons and this is urgent. The conditions... More...

  • VFS and DHA SHOCKING!!

I have been in a relationship with South African citizen for a very long time and I have been coming to South Africa so many times with no problem. I even received renewal of my tourist visa and I was able to spend 5 months here. So this year we decided that I am gonna move to South Africa. We were preparing all papers with a lawyer, spoke to an ambassy many times and collected all different documents that VFS asked for. This was a 100% visa approval case. After 8 weeks I received a refusal due to no proof of relationship. My file was about 60 pages with everything they wanted and paper... More...

  • Incompitent work standards

I submitted a study permit application for a Refugee permit holder expiring 2017. The rejection came back advising that the applicant has is illegal as the asylum seeker has been rejected? Where do they get their information from when looking through the documents submitted? Do they even really look at what is being submitted as they are rejecting unnecessarily. Its not fair as the applicant needs to pay VFS once again for appeal and I think they should be reimbursed based on the fact that it was a human error or fault on there side. It is not legally correct at all. Another issue if the... More...

  • AWAITING PASSPORT FOR MOM AFTER 4 MONTHS

My mom and dad both applied for their passports in May only for my dads passport to arrive in 2 weeks and my mom is still waiting. THIS IS EXTREMELY URGENT NOW!. They are supposed to fly over here to England for the World Cup next month and have booked match tickets to attend the matches. My mom has called the Home affairs everyday for the last 2 months only to be told that they are investigating. It was their mistake that they made on their end. Why should my mom have to suffer like this and why should my dad have to fly over here on his own? I demand a reply or more info on what is going... More...

  • No assistance

I the single mother of a two year old little boy. His dad and I split when I found out I was pregnant. He wanted me to have an abortion. I met and married a man who agreed to raise my son as his. He was put on the birth cert as the dad. He was a serial cheater and I divorced him. Problem is, he is still on the birth cert and I am concerned that he has right to my son if something happens to me. I cannot apply for a passport etc. I obtained an affidavit when we divorced and I submitted everything to home affairs and they lost the docs. He is not his father. Please let me know I can... • MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

I am beyond disappointed in Home Affairs. I am battling since October 2014 to get an abridge marriage certificate. Everytime that I went into the Vereeniging branch I get the same lame excuse that they are busy with it. On the 15/06/2015 I logged a complaint to 0800 601 190 with case number 1506056964. Since then I phoned on the 15/06/2015, 03/07/2015, 06/07/2015, 14/07/2015 and 30/07/2015. And still nothing and I am getting fed up. What to I have to do to get my marriage certificate. On the 14 July when I phoned Rilene told me that I will get it with in 10days. Mr Mothebedi of the... More...

  • Xenophic Officers

On Sunday 14th June 2016 I existed RSA at the Oshoek Boarder Post with my wife and Kids. I am an expatriate Zimbabwean working in Swaziland. I was attended to be an office named Thabo Masina. I handed over our passports, the kids original unabridged birth certificates(UBC) and certified copies of the same. The officer then proceeded to ask my why I was giving him the certified copies and before I could explain why he explained that when both parents are travelling with the children all that is required is the UBC. When he was done I explained the reason for the handover, being an... More...

  • Birth Certificate Fraud

I applied for my son's birth certificate in mid 2014, In January 2015 I received an sms to collect it. I only managed to do so this week. When I was finally assisted, I was told that the birth certificate was requested from Home affairs in Welkom, and I applied in Randburg. Subsequently a copy of my sons unabridged birth certificate was given to a total stranger. I would therefore like to know from Home affairs, how they can issue birth certificates to total strangers? Then I would like to know how do I now protect my son from identity theft in the future? I would also like to know how... More...

  • Passport and Id randburg

I have never jumped a queue in my life. I have been diligently waiting for hours in a queue, not complaining. When I got through the gate. I asked the gentleman at the gate if because my Id had been stolen but I still had my old passport if I needed to apply for my ID first or if I could get a new passport based on my old passport as I would do the ID another time if so because I was getting worried about my kids. He said he didn't know and that I could ask the man behind me to keep my place then ask quickly at information. The lady at information took a disliking to me. I have no idea... More...

  • Home affairs refusing entry

I work 90 km's away (Durban) from the home affairs office in Stanger (Kwaduguza) and I know the operating hours are from 8am to 4pm. so I thought I would leave work before 3 pm and thus get to the office at 3:45 pm. and as I predicted I arrived there at 3:45 pm. Only to find that they wouldn't allow me in despite it being before 4pm. I was there to collect a passport not to apply so there would be any long queues to pay and apply etc... This goes against everything the government is trying to do with batho pele and service delivery to the ppl of this country. I pay my... More...

  • Very poor service

I applied in March 2014 for my sons unabridged birth certificate, I heard nothing from Home affairs, I then again applied for it on the 10th December 2014 as I am travelling overseas in June 2015 and need it for Visa purposes. Up to now I have not received anything, I have phoned every week and all they tell me is that it was sent to Head office the 20th February 2015. They say they can't find my son on file and need to investigate but yet they issued him with a passport. This is really ridiculous, it is now the 1st April 2015 and I have not yet applied for my Visa which is suppose... More...
