  • Closing times! Incompetent and unhelpful.

I applied for a new smart card ID on the 17th of April at the Vereeniging Home Affairs. Today I received an sms and email saying that my ID is ready for collection. I left my home at approximately 15:00 and arrived at the home affairs at 15:30. I checked up online that they close at 16:00 so i knew i still had time! Upon arrival the gates were shut. A man working for the home affairs sitting outside says they are closed and theres no way i can collect i should return on monday. He was very abrupt and rude. He opened the gate and door and slammed closed after entering! Another lady working... More...

  • Embassy inefficiency

Mexican Embassy received my application for a new passport on 8 April 2017. After 3 weeks I asked for a progress report and was told the application would only be sent at the end of the month in a diplomatic pouch. Following up with 12 emails to the Embassy, and copying in Home Affairs, Mr E Mokoena replied promptly that no application has been received. I sent this reply to the Mexican Embassy %u2013 and today 16 Aug received an email that the passport application will only be sent to SA today 16 August. Is that not dereliction of duties that emails were not answered and passport... More...

I applied for a smartcard id on the 18/05/2017 at the East London Home Affairs, up until today still waiting fir my ID. On the 18th of July i went back and was told the very same story and i asked for a Supervisor to clarify this for me, I was referred to Mrs Sondaba who promised to follow it up and tell me the outcome, Its been 4 working days waiting for her call. I am disgusted by the kind of service am getting from a place that is supposed to help us, I cnt even go... More...

  • Divorce not registered, 6 yrs now - Pathetic

I got Divorced in the UK and submitted my papers in South Africa to have my Divorce registered here. I re married and found out 3 yrs later that I am still married to another woman. I have submitted our papers 7 times already with no luck. I am currently waiting for this to be done online and still no help. The government officials we pay with our tax money are more concerned about being rude than actually doing their jobs. What has this country become. Licking your fingers after a KFC lunch is more important than helping a person that would like to have his life in order. We are planning... More...

  • Closing times

I arrived at the dept of home affairs randburg at 15:20 after carefully checking the closing hours which were 16:00, only to have the security gate jammed in my face and denied access. Not only were the security very rude and arrogant but there were a handful of people who also wanted to get in and were denied. A group of people also exited saying the staff were refusing to deal with people who had not put in their forms at the desk before 15:00. What kind of nonsense is this of public servants, these are the people and services I pay for with my taxes and they should not be able to... More...

  • Unabridged Birth Certificate

I applied for an Unabridged Birth Certificate for 2 of my daughters at the Wynberg Branch in Cape Town in January 2016. Not long after, only the one was ready for collection. Month after month for whole year of 2016 I called in to enquire about when the other certificate would be ready for my 2nd daughter. Only to be told that it's npt ready and that there is a backlog. Although this didn't make sense to me, I was patient and time passed. In January 2017 I received and SMS asking me to come in to complete some forms with regards to my daughter's outstanding unabridged Birth... More...

I got divorced in 2014 and to date my divorce was never registered. I have been to the boksburg branch and submitted the required documents, but had to find out after so long that the status was still not changed. This is a life changing issue, because I got married in the meantime and because of the delay/incompetency of the officials my marriage now can not be registered. I took it upon myself to drive to Pretoria and re-submitted my documents once again, and a very friendly lady, Agnes, who is a supervisor opted to email my documents to someone at the head-office to speed up the... So frustrating...did the online booking and payment, went to The Grove FNB for biometrics. Receive a printout saying all done. Two weeks later I go online as I have heard nothing, just to see that apparently I never pitched for my appointment at the The Grove. Contact DHA and they have nothing saying I did in fact pitch for my appointment and I will have to go back to The Grove. So the person assisting me, once again, did not do their job, and probably pressed the wrong button...nicely done... More...

  • Consumer complaint

Exceptionally bad service. I am used to dealing with long lines and am a reasonably patient person. I have used the new Wynberg branch a few times and have never had a complaint. Today however the service received by the manager Mr J Conradie was of poor standard. I arrive timeously to be told I cannot process my renewal of passport,as they cannot accommodate me,I then advise that this should be mentioned on the website in which he replies that the website is a challenge at the moment. I also advise that I have tried with no success to contact the home affairs offices. He then directs me... More...

  • RSA citizen

On the 24 Jan 2017 I was harassed by a lady at MTN taxi rank in JHB. The lady grabbed my hand and started demanding to see my ID or passport. I asked to see her name tag as she didn%u2019t have one and worst of all she was wearing a Gauteng bib and frankly she looked like a car washer. I asked for her name and she refused to give it. I would like to understand how home affairs puts people on the streets without formal training and proper identifiable uniform. I would also like to know why I am being discriminated against because of the tone of my skin and texture of my hair. These people... More...

I have applied for passports for my 2 children on 29/11/16 online. I have also paid online and was requested to have photos taken at Home Affairs Office. I have since been to Home Affairs in Umgeni Road Durban on 3 different occasions & spent more than 15 hours queuing with my baby only to be told, that they are unable to assist me. What is the point of applying online when you still have to follow this queue and still not be helped. The passport and ID applications are dealt with the same urgency. Clearly people apply for a passport for travel reasons and this is urgent. The conditions... More...

I have been in a relationship with South African citizen for a very long time and I have been coming to South Africa so many times with no problem. I even received renewal of my tourist visa and I was able to spend 5 months here. So this year we decided that I am gonna move to South Africa. We were preparing all papers with a lawyer, spoke to an ambassy many times and collected all different documents that VFS asked for. This was a 100% visa approval case. After 8 weeks I received a refusal due to no proof of relationship. My file was about 60 pages with everything they wanted and paper... More...

To whom it may concern I would like to lodge a formal complaint complaint about the way my situation has been handled today at your Port Elizabeth branch and being assisted by a consultant namely: Themba. To cut a long story short I applied for an I.D Card today and without any explanation from the consultant was ushered to an fro and eventually was told that I have applied for an I.D Card on the 11 September 2014 which I then informed the consultant I have received no notification for and now was subjected to paying R140.0 x 2. • Incompitent work standards

I submitted a study permit application for a Refugee permit holder expiring 2017. The rejection came back advising that the applicant has is illegal as the asylum seeker has been rejected? Where do they get their information from when looking through the documents submitted? Do they even really look at what is being submitted as they are rejecting unnecessarily. Its not fair as the applicant needs to pay VFS once again for appeal and I think they should be reimbursed based on the fact that it was a human error or fault on there side. It is not legally correct at all. Another issue if the... More...

My mom and dad both applied for their passports in May only for my dads passport to arrive in 2 weeks and my mom is still waiting. THIS IS EXTREMELY URGENT NOW!. They are supposed to fly over here to England for the World Cup next month and have booked match tickets to attend the matches. My mom has called the Home affairs everyday for the last 2 months only to be told that they are investigating. It was their mistake that they made on their end. Why should my mom have to suffer like this and why should my dad have to fly over here on his own? I demand a reply or more info on what is going... More...

He was put on the birth cert as the dad. He was a serial cheater and I divorced him. Problem is, he is still on the birth cert and I am concerned that he has right to my son if something happens to me. I cannot apply for a passport etc. I obtained an affidavit when we divorced and I submitted everything to home affairs and they lost the docs. He is not his father. Please let me know I can... I am beyond disappointed in Home Affairs. I am battling since October 2014 to get an abridge marriage certificate. Everytime that I went into the Vereeniging branch I get the same lame excuse that they are busy with it. On the 15/06/2015 I logged a complaint to 0800 601 190 with case number 1506056964. Since then I phoned on the 15/06/2015, 03/07/2015, 06/07/2015, 14/07/2015 and 30/07/2015. And still nothing and I am getting fed up. What to I have to do to get my marriage certificate. On the 14 July when I phoned Rilene told me that I will get it with in 10days. Mr Mothebedi of the... More...

  • Xenophic Officers

On Sunday 14th June 2016 I existed RSA at the Oshoek Boarder Post with my wife and Kids. I am an expatriate Zimbabwean working in Swaziland. I was attended to be an office named Thabo Masina. I handed over our passports, the kids original unabridged birth certificates(UBC) and certified copies of the same. The officer then proceeded to ask my why I was giving him the certified copies and before I could explain why he explained that when both parents are travelling with the children all that is required is the UBC. When he was done I explained the reason for the handover, being an... More...

  • Birth Certificate Fraud

I applied for my son's birth certificate in mid 2014, In January 2015 I received an sms to collect it. I only managed to do so this week. When I was finally assisted, I was told that the birth certificate was requested from Home affairs in Welkom, and I applied in Randburg. Subsequently a copy of my sons unabridged birth certificate was given to a total stranger. I would therefore like to know from Home affairs, how they can issue birth certificates to total strangers? Then I would like to know how do I now protect my son from identity theft in the future? I would also like to know how... More...
