  • Duplicate ID

I discovered two weeks ago that I was a victim of identity theft when I went to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) in Somerset West to apply for a new ID and passport to prepare for trip to Norway for work in September 2017. When they scanned my ID at Home Affairs two ID numbers reflected and I was told that there was an ID issued under my name in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth in 2014, and that it hadn't been claimed as the person who was meant to collect the ID had been requested to produce proof that the ID belonged to her. I had never been to the Home Affairs department in... More...

  • disgusting service

Arrived at New Hanover Home Affairs at 12-00, sat down just to be told that i must go outside the building and wait in a que. Plenty of seating space inside but we had to wait outside in the wind and cold with no seating. At 3:30pm went and inquired just to be told that they were closing. not once while waiting outside was anyone called in to be helped. No communication what so ever. Phoned your office manager, Hllengiwe Nkonyani who was of no help at all except for excuses, and telling us that there was only one person on duty and that she has no airtime left . Incompetent service and... More...

  • Waiting for ID since 11/11/2014

Assistance needed. On the 11th of November 2014 I visited the Home Affairs office in Krugerdorp to apply for a new passport. I was informed by the officials that my ID number has been blocked. On further request I was informed that my ID number duplicated. Home Affairs Office in Sasolburg had switched my finger prints with my sisters. She is 15 months older than me. She married and when she applied for a surname change Home Affairs then picked up that the finger prints on her ID was wrong. Home Affairs then proceeded in blocking my ID number. I reapplied for an ID on the 11th of... More...

  • New ID delay

I applied for a new ID reverting back to my maiden name on 20 March 2014 and was so surprised to receive an sms within minutes confirming the receipt of the application. Unfortunately there seems to have been no further progress on this as every time I check my status on the internet it is still on Step 1 of 4. Due to the voting this year I can understand the delay up to May but cannot understand what is taking so long since. I would really appreciate seeing some progress on this. Regards C Stevens More...
