Department of Home affairs - eventually got unabridged birth certificate - Unabridged birth certificate

we wpplied for an unabridged birth certificate in 2011 at the Bellville offices. In 2012 they contacted us to tell us that we had to come in again to submit more documents. We did'nt manage to get there but with the recent change of legislation for travelling, we HAD to go back to sort it out. We went to room 7 and they informed us that the original application was still on file and that we just had to submit the additional documentation. The lady assured us that she would take care of it.
2 Months later I contacted the customer care line in PTA to ask them how far they are with the application as we need to make travel bookings. They told me that they never received the application from Bellville. I contacted Bellville, and thank goodness, got through to Mrs. Dunn. She also could not see that the application was ever processed. She investigated the matter and phoned me back to inform me that the file had gone missing. She was new on the job and had alot of similar complaints to sort out. She asked us to come in again and re-apply. We went in and completed all the documents again. Mrs Dunn then personally handled the application and a day later we collected the certificate. So after all bad service - there was at least the great service that we received from Mrs Dunn. Home affairs can be glad they have someone like her to sort out other people's mess!
I just feel sorry for the other people who is still waiting on certificates and perhaps their applications has also gone missing. So... if you are waiting, you better follow up!
